HOW TO CLEAN YOUR STOVE – EASY, CHEMICAL FREE

Cleaning appliances is not my favorite household chore, but I really can’t stand a dirty stove, sink, oven, or microwave, so I find myself wiping them down quite often.

Case and point – this stove just served up a delicious breakfast that consisted of toast, eggs and bacon. There were bread crumbs, dried egg drippings, bacon grease, and the charcoal remains of who-knows-what completely stuck on this stove.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Soak the Grates: Begin by filling your kitchen sink with hot, soapy water. Remove the stove grates and submerge them, allowing them to soak while you tackle the stovetop.
  2. Wipe Away Loose Debris: Dampen your sponge slightly and gently wipe away any loose crumbs or debris from the stovetop.
  3. Apply Hot Water: Soak the sponge in hot water and squeeze the excess water onto the stovetop, letting it sit for a minute to loosen stubborn grime.
  4. Clean Burner Components: Carefully remove the burner caps and other removable parts. Using the sponge, wipe each piece, adding more hot water as needed. For particularly stubborn spots, sprinkle a small amount of baking soda onto the scrubbing side of the sponge and gently scrub.
  5. Scrub the Stovetop: With the hot water having loosened the grease and charred residues, gently scrub the stovetop, ensuring you reach all the nooks and crannies.
  6. Clean the Grates: Return to the grates soaking in the sink. Using the sponge, scrub each grate to remove any remaining grease or food particles. Once clean, dry them thoroughly with a clean cloth or paper towel.
  7. Reassemble and Admire: Once all components are clean and dry, reassemble your stove. Step back and admire the gleaming result of your efforts!

Additional Tips:

  • Regular maintenance can make allllllll the difference! To prevent the buildup of stubborn grime, wipe down your stovetop after each use to keep it looking pristine.
  • For glass stovetops, avoid using abrasive tools or cleaners that can scratch the surface. Instead, opt for gentle cleaning methods to maintain their sleek appearance.
  • Always ensure all components are completely dry before reassembling to prevent any potential issues.

By following this straightforward, chemical-free method, you can keep your stove looking and functioning at its best, enhancing the overall appeal of your kitchen.
