Here are 12 kitchen deep cleaning tips to help you achieve a clean and sanitized kitchen:
1. Oven Cleaning:
- Mix baking soda and water into a paste and apply it to oven surfaces. Let it sit overnight, then scrub and wipe away grime. (Full details HERE)
2. Grease Removal:
- Use a mixture of vinegar and water to clean greasy surfaces. It cuts through grease and leaves a shine.
3. Stainless Steel Shine:
- Polish stainless steel appliances with olive oil for a streak-free, shiny finish.
4. Sink Sanitization:
– Use a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice to scrub the sink. Rinse with boiling water to sanitize. (Full details HERE)
5. Garbage Disposal Freshener:
- Freeze vinegar in ice cube trays with a slice of lemon. Run these cubes through the disposal to clean and freshen it.
6. Cutting Board Revival:
- Sprinkle salt on a wooden cutting board, rub with a lemon half, and rinse. This eliminates stains and odors.
7. Microwave Steam Cleaning:
- Heat a bowl of water and vinegar in the microwave for 5 minutes. The steam will loosen stains, making it easier to wipe clean. (Full details HERE)
8. Grout Cleaning:
- Mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into a paste and scrub grout lines. Rinse thoroughly.
9. Dishwasher Deep Clean:
- Place a dishwasher-safe cup of white vinegar on the top rack and run a hot cycle to remove mineral buildup.
10. Tile Backsplash:
– Wipe down your tile backsplash with a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar to remove grease and stains.
11. Cabinet Refresh:
– Clean cabinet fronts with a mild dish soap and water solution, and touch up with wood polish if needed.
12. Grime-Free Range Burners:

My husband is color-blind. He’s very helpful in the kitchen, but was very frustrated sorting through plastic containers and trying to match them with their lids. So I matched them all up, recycled the misfits and donated everything to the local Goodwill store. Then I bought two large sets of Rubbermaid containers in multiple sizes and matching lids, one with black lids and the other with red lids (two colors he can see very easily). For about $40, no more frustration!
