Organizing a small bathroom can feel like a challenge, but with the right strategies, even the tiniest spaces can be transformed into a clutter-free oasis!
How to Decorate and Organize a Small Bathroom
Our downstairs bathroom is not only the smallest bathroom in our house, it is also the most used bathroom! Since it sees a good amount of use by my kids and our guests, I wanted this room to look nice, yet still be kid-friendly and functional!
The simple design I came up with is both beautiful and budget-friendly, and I love how it turned out!
In my last Instagram poll, 46% of you said having a limited space and lack of storage solution was the biggest challenge you faced in keeping your bathroom organized.
Organizing a small bathroom can be challenging, but with some creative solutions, you can make the most of your limited space.
Here are some practical ideas to help you keep your bathroom tidy and functional:
1. Utilize Vertical Space
- Wall Shelves: Install shelves above the toilet, sink, or along empty walls to store toiletries, towels, and decorative items.
- Over-the-Door Racks: Use over-the-door racks or over-the-door hooks for hanging towels, robes, or baskets for additional storage.
- Towel Bars/ Hooks: Install towel bars, accordion racks, or single hooks on the back of the door, on empty walls, or inside the shower to hang towels and washcloths. (Use adhesive Command hooks for an easy, non-permanent solution to hang items anywhere you need.)
2. Maximize Cabinet and Drawer Space
- Drawer Dividers: Use drawer dividers to keep small items like makeup, razors, and hair accessories organized and easy to find.
- Cabinet Organizers: Install pull-out organizers or stackable bins inside cabinets to make the most of vertical space and keep items accessible.
3. Use Multi-Functional Furniture
- Vanities with Storage: Choose a vanity with built-in storage, such as drawers or cabinets, to keep essentials out of sight but easily accessible.
- Storage Stools: Opt for stools or benches with hidden storage to keep extra towels or toiletries.
4. Incorporate Over-the-Toilet Storage
- Over-the-Toilet Shelves: Install a shelving unit above the toilet to store towels, toilet paper, and other necessities.
- Floating Shelves: Mount floating shelves above the toilet for a sleek, modern storage solution.
5. Optimize Shower Space
- Shower Caddies: Use a shower caddy that hangs over the shower head or attaches to the wall to keep shampoos, conditioners, and soaps organized.
- Corner Shelves: Install corner shelves in the shower to utilize unused space for storing bath products.
6. Keep the Counter Clutter-Free
- Countertop Organizers: Use trays, jars, or small baskets to corral items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and skincare products.
7. Declutter Regularly
- Purge Unused Items: Regularly go through your bathroom items and get rid of anything expired, unused, or unnecessary.
- Streamline Essentials: Keep only the essentials within reach and store less frequently used items in higher or less accessible places.
By implementing these space-saving solutions, you can keep your small bathroom organized and functional without sacrificing style. Small changes can make a big difference, transforming your limited space into a tidy and efficient oasis!
