These little photo boxes are one of my favorite organizing tools because they’re compact, sturdy, and surprisingly versatile.

And honestly? I almost never use them for photos.

Here are four creative ways to use 4×6 photo boxes around your home, car, and beyond.

1. Store Card Games

Cardboard boxes never stand a chance in our house — especially when it comes to card games. After a few rounds of Uno or Cover Your Kingdom, those flimsy boxes are ripped, taped, and barely holding it together.

Now, I store each card game in its own 4×6 photo box. They fit perfectly, stay protected, and are easy to stack in a drawer or basket. Bonus: They’re also easy to travel with!

Pro tip: Label each box with the game name using vinyl stickers or a label maker. You’ll feel like a professional organizer and a genius mom.

2. Make a Mini First Aid Kit

Those little cardboard boxes that bandaids and medications come in? They never last long. The corners tear, the flaps stop closing, and suddenly your medicine drawer looks like a disaster zone.

Instead, I transfer all those items into a few 4×6 photo boxes. One for bandages, one for pain relievers, one for pain relievers or allergy meds. Everything stays clean, visible, and easy to grab when someone inevitably gets a paper cut.

Bonus: The clear boxes make it easy to see when you’re running low on something.

3. Create a Car Console Survival Kit

This might be my favorite hack. I keep five or six photo boxes in my car console, each one filled with small essentials I might need in a pinch.

Here’s what’s inside mine:

  • Wipes + tissues (because kids)
  • Feminine supplies
  • Pad of paper + pen
  • Mints or gum
  • Phone charger
  • Bandaids

It keeps everything tidy and contained instead of rolling around the glove box or getting lost in the abyss that is the bottom of the console. When mom’s prepared, chaos doesn’t stand a chance.

4. Organize Cords and Chargers

Let’s be honest — everyone has a tangled nest of cords somewhere in their house.

I used to have a whole box of mystery cables: old phone chargers, random camera cords, even some that belonged to devices we no longer own.

Now, every type of cord gets its own photo box. Phone chargers in one, camera cables in another, etc. The difference is night and day. No more digging through a spaghetti mess to find the right one.

Pro tip: Wrap each cord with a Velcro tie before storing it to keep things extra neat.

These little 4×6 photo boxes are inexpensive, stackable, and perfect for so much more than photos. Whether you’re organizing your game cabinet, your car, or that dreaded cord drawer, they make it easy to find what you need — and actually keep it that way.

Small box, big difference. 😉
