Declutter & Organize Bedroom Challenge

Are you tired of waking up to a cluttered and chaotic bedroom? It’s time to reclaim your space and create an organized sanctuary where you can relax and unwind.

Download and print the challenge calendar (available below) and get ready to spend the next 2 weeks cleaning and organizing your bedroom.

The calendar outlines specific spaces with tasks every day and YOU get to decide how much time to dedicate to each task. If you have an hour, great! If you have 5 minutes before bedtime, that’s great too!

Here’s the plan –

Day 1. Ceiling

  • Remove cobwebs in corners and around the perimeter
  • Dust ceiling fan + light fixtures
  • Replace burned out light bulbs 
  • Vacuum ceiling with hose attachment
  • Spot clean stains with a sponge, warm water and an all-purpose cleaner. 
  • Replace air filters

Day 2. Walls + Windows

  • Wipe walls + doors
  • Touch up paint
  • Wipe light switches + door handles
  • Dust artwork
  • Clean window glass + tracks
  • Clean window coverings + dust window treatments

Day 3. Bed  

  • Mattress:
    • Vacuum
    • Spot treat stains 
    • Flip/ rotate
  • Headboard + footboard
    • Wipe down bed frame
    • Spot treat any stains if you have a fabric headboard
  • Bedding:
    • Launder sheets and bedding (don’t forget your bed skirt/ dust ruffle)
    • Update/ replace pillows + bedding
  • Under:
    • Pull everything out and vacuum/ sweep the floors
    • Purge unnecessary items from under the bed
    • Organize everything you plan to keep under the bed

Day 4. Nightstand

  • Clear everything off and wipe it down, inside and out. (Don’t forget the hardware!)
  • Declutter and organize any drawers/ shelves, purging everything you can
  • Make the top look pretty with a new lamp, artwork, fresh flowers, etc. Keep it simple! 

Day 5. Furniture

  • Tidy up and declutter any bookshelves or reading nooks
  • Spot clean any upholstered furniture
  • Organize and declutter desk or workspace areas
  • Dust and clean any decorative items or artwork on display 
  • Wipe down and disinfect remotes, and other small electronics
  • Rearrange furniture to try a fresh arrangement
  • Remove unused furniture to free up space

Day 6. Floors 

  • Vacuum/ sweep + mop
  • Spot clean any carpet stains.
  • Dust/ wipe down baseboards and molding
  • Empty and clean out trash can
  • Add/ swap out a rug

Day 7. Break, Plan, or Catch Up Day

Day 8. Wardrobe: Undergarments + Accessories

  • Bras
  • Underwear
  • Socks + Hosiery
  • Scarves
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Belts
  • Ties
  • Jewelry

Day 9. Wardrobe: Outerwear, Activewear + Sleepwear

  • Jackets/ Coats
  • Blazers
  • Vests
  • Workout tops
  • Leggings
  • Sports bras
  • Athletic shorts
  • Bathing suits
  • Pajamas
  • Loungewear

Day 10. Wardrobe: Tops

  • T-shirts
  • Blouses 
  • Sweatshirts
  • Sweaters
  • Cardigans
  • Tank tops

Day 11. Wardrobe: Bottoms

  • Jeans
  • Pants
  • Leggings
  • Shorts

Day 12. Wardrobe: Dresses, Skirts + Specialty items

  • Casual dresses
  • Formal dresses
  • Costumes
  • Formalwear
  • Seasonal clothing

Day 13. Wardrobe: Shoes

  • Sneakers
  • Boots
  • Sandals
  • Heels
  • Flats

Day 14. Style + Finishing Touches, Catch Up Day

  • Freshen up the room with a new scent – candle, diffuser or air freshener
  • Add fresh flowers
  • Treat yourself to a new piece of art or decor 
  • Relax and enjoy your fresh, new space!
