Designing a teen boy’s bedroom is all about finding that perfect mix of style and functionality. With Ryan’s room, we wanted to create a space that not only looks great but also meets his needs now and in the years to come!

Here are a few more room designs we think you’ll enjoy: Dorm Room Organization, Boy’s Vintage Industrial Bedroom, and Ryan’s Tween Boy Bedroom.

Creating a Teen Boy Bedroom

Creating a bedroom for a teen boy is no small task—especially when that boy has strong opinions about what he wants the space to look like!

We wanted to strike the perfect balance between style and function, ensuring the space feels like his own personal retreat while also being practical for his needs.

Ryan’s top requests? A space to relax, hang out with friends, plenty of storage for his Legos, and a room design without a theme. (He still loves playing and watching hockey, but he’s grown out of his hockey-themed room.)

With that in mind, here’s what we came up with:

The Color Scheme
Ryan gravitated towards a color palette that was both modern and timeless—think cool neutrals and pops of bold, dark colors. We used beige, blacks, and dark browns throughout the room to create a cohesive look that feels both fresh and sophisticated.

Storage Solutions
Ryan doesn’t have a lot of stuff, but storage for his Legos and other random things was a top priority. We opted for a mix of open shelving and closed storage to keep things organized without sacrificing style.

A large dresser provides plenty of space for clothes, while bins and shelving hold everything else.

Personal Touches
To make sure the room felt like Ryan’s, we added some personal touches that reflect his interests.

The American flag sure makes a bold statement and catches your eye as soon as you walk in.

A framed poster of his favorite hockey team was something he wanted to keep from his last room design, and his hockey sticks in the corner add some height and dimension to an otherwise empty space.

The Final Result
The end result is a room that Ryan loves—and that’s exactly what we were aiming for. It’s a space that’s cool, comfortable, and completely his own!
