When Mason and Leah shared a bathroom, the decor was more feminine because Leah helped design it and Mason couldn’t care less. But now that Leah is away at college and Ryan took over her room, it was time to give the space a complete overhaul to suit our 2 teenage sons.
Here’s how we transformed a once-co-ed bathroom into a sleek, functional, and stylish space just for the boys.
Choosing a Masculine Color Palette
We started by selecting a new color palette that was both masculine and timeless. We opted for a combination of deep blues, black, and soft white.
To add a bit of texture and interest, we incorporated lighter wood tones in the accessories.
Upgrading the Decor
Definitely the biggest change we made was upgrading the wall decor. We swapped out the hanging florals and put in a couple framed pieces my boys LOVE! (…can you blame them?)
Keeping it Simple
The 2 vanity areas were tidied up and simplified because less on the counters means less to clean and wipe down.
The Final Result
The transformation from a shared boy/girl bathroom to a teen boys’ space was a success!
The new bathroom is not only functional and stylish but also perfectly suited to our sons’ needs. It’s a space they’re proud to call their own and one that will serve them well through their teenage years and beyond.
