Organizing your child’s closet + dresser doesn`t have to be overwhelming! The goal is to edit their clothing and create an organized system where everything has a place.
Swipe thru and see 6 steps to follow to make this process as pain-free as possible!
HELPFUL TIPS:
1. Accessible Clothing - Hang or fold clothing that you want them to have access to on a lower rod or in a lower drawer.
2. Room for Laundry - Stick a laundry basket in one corner to corral the piles of dirty clothes.
3. Use Matching Hangers - Your closet will instantly feel more sleek and organized when all the hangers are the same.
4. Create a Spot for Shoes - Avoid the pile of shoes on the floor by designating an open shelf, shoe rack, or large basket as a place to store them.
5. Extra Basket/ Bin - Keep a basket in the closet for items that your child no longer wants or outgrows. They can immediately place these unwanted items in the basket so these clothes don’t get tossed on the floor, or cycled with the dirty laundry over and over. You can sort through this basket as needed to decide what to donate and what to keep for younger siblings.
6. Space Solutions - Keep the floor clutter-free by using all the vertical space available.
. Add an over-the-door organizer
. Hooks on the wall are perfect for bags and accessories
⭐️When was the last time you organized your child’s closet?
⭐️Are you ready to tackle it again??
I could’ve captioned this video in so many ways:
If your kid’s room looks like this…
. Shut the door and walk away.
. Tell them to get off the video games.
. Set it on fire. 🤪
etc. etc. etc.
My boys are asked to clean their room everyday, but when it starts to look like this, it’s beyond the point of a quick tidy!
The solution -a good declutter- isn’t hard, and it doesn’t have to take all day, either.
In just one hour, we got rid of 1 bag of toys, 1 bag of trash, and FIVE bags of clothes!!! 🙌🏻
At first they wanted no part in the purge, but the idea of cleaning their rooms faster and less often, or getting dressed without sifting through the clothes they don’t love was actually contagiously motivating!
Don’t get me wrong, I still have to tell them to pick up their things and clean up their rooms (pretty much daily!) but it’s not nearly as overwhelming for them, so it goes faster and they have more confidence in their ability to do it well.
Any life lesson that teaches responsibility while building confidence is totally worth teaching, don’t ya think?!
How do you teach your kids to care for their things?
And do you declutter you kids’ spaces very often?

You can buy 100 pretty containers and spend all day organizing, but until you start getting rid of “stuff”, it won’t make a difference.
WHY?
Because clutter in a container is still clutter.
- Stop bringing stuff into your home, even if it was on sale.
- Learn to part with things you don’t use that are taking up valuable space.
- Purge, take a rest, and then purge some more.
Be RUTHLESS.
Your home will look better.
And you will FEEL better.
(That sounds like a pretty nice way to live, don’t you think?!)
